Been reading up more and need to mention a couple of things.
- We might remove one of the 3 vmnics from the iscsi multipath setup because preliminary monitoring in vcenter seems to show only 2 of the 3 nics getting much usage
- I have the management network set up on one vswitch, but I don't have a storage heartbeat set in the vswitch we're using for iscsi. Do we need the SH, or is that what my management network is doing? We're on 5.0, not 5.1. Our 4 hosts are connected to a single EQ ps6500 (2 SC with 4 ports each) via 2 dell switches, and we made sure each vswitch has one or more nics connected to each switch. EQ SC ports also divided up on switches.
If we do need the SH and are OK with 2 iscsi nics for MP, I need to clarify the SH setup -
- use lowest vmk port in iscsi vswitch
- unbind that vmk port from the iscsi adapter in the storage adapter configuration
- both NICs set to active in the SH vmk port
Is that all correct?
