Last time, I used this patch and instructions and it worked fine:
but this time, the patch program is giving a lot of errors as though the files it's patching are different. Did a new set of modules come out that require another patch? What am I missing?
The link you posted (at the present time) points to 495 other posts, so I'm certainly not going to waste my time trying to guess which one you've followed in the past and will only say that patches tend to be kernel version specific and or VMware product specific as well as the Host OS can be a factor. So make sure that the patch(es) is(are) for the kernel version and VMware product you're using.
Additionally if you uninstalled/reinstalled in order not try and fix the OP issue vs. using the workaround provided, uninstalling/reinstalling usually does not fix the OP issue as from what I read in another thread it been show there is a hard coded error in one of the binaries that causes this issue and VMware has not fixed it yet in its GA release.
