I've got several ESX5 boxes with 64 GB to 256 GB of ram. All servers built onto VM use SAN Symphony as HDs/storage.
I've got intermittent issues with one server in particular. It's our DFS server, set up with a 50 GB HD and 8 GB of ram - 35 GB +/- of available space on the drive. It seems to lose connectivity with the domain, thus not mapping the network drives for users properly or at all. Everything worked fine until about 2 weeks ago. We migrated off a Compellent SAN (end of life) to the new SAN Symphony. All other servers in the domain and the new SAN Symphony work fine.
As it sits, when I open the DFS management console, the namespaces show fine, but some users don't get their mapped drives.
Thinking that I might have a possible ram issue, I shut down the server, double the ram size to 16 GB and boot it up. Once booted and I open the DFS management console, the namespaces won't open - lack of storage space. There's still 35 GB of HD space left, so I'm wondering if the combo of OS, HD and ram might have something to do with this. Is it possible that VM doesn't have room to add ram and have the namespaces working properly?
I'm perplexed.
