Performing patching on SQL Server when protected by Heartbeat

Hey guys, just a question.

this KB here mentioned that DB is remote from vCenter server

BUT my DB is sitting together with my vCenter physical server.

Does the follow step still stand? Or is there something else? Anyone done this before?
